Who am I?
I’m a wide-eyed, solo travelling, girl from beautiful sunny Queensland, Australia who is determined to explore this world and what it means to be alive. I have a mixed bag of qualifications under my belt that have lead me to a variety of careers that weren’t for me. They also led me to my decision to become a student of the world. I have a lust for life, a taste for adventure and adrenalin and I’m ready to explore. Come explore with me?
What am I doing?
At the beginning of 2018 I decided to take control of my own life and happiness. I set off on an adventure of a lifetime to find my purpose. I quit my very secure corporate job, sold all of my belongings and ran off into the sunset with nothing more than my backpack and my hiking boots. This adventure was a life changing experience and allowed me to prove to myself that I am capable of so much more than I ever thought possible.
After wrapping up my six month solo trip in South America, I was determined to not fall back into the rat race. I succeeded in that goal and spent the next 12 months travelling and working remotely as I went. I made it a priority to fill my days with exploration, adventure, goal setting and dream chasing as well as hard work both in running this blog and for the companies I was working for remotely. Location independence and the freedom to prioritise my passions, happiness and dreams was exactly what I wanted.
After doing this for a while I decided to pursue my passion for hiking and the outdoors in a more permanent way. I now find myself working as a hiking guide in one of the most beautiful places in the world, the Fiordland National Park in New Zealand. I have an endless number of long term goals and plans in place in the world of the outdoors, but that’s still to come.
Why am I doing it?
Throughout my entire life I have always felt like I was meant for something more and that the way we, as a society, do things just wasn’t right for me. I always knew that there had to be more to life than just working to live and living to work. I didn’t just want to see the world, I needed to. I needed to see it, experience it and live it in every way, shape and form possible. And the more I explored that, the more I realised that I needed to climb and conquer as many literal and metaphorical mountains as possible.
There are only so many excuses you can make before you realise you just need to do it, whatever it is, that is going to make you feel like a whole person. Tomorrow belongs to no-one so you need to take that chance, chase that dream and find your purpose today!
What does this mean for you?
So what should you hope to gain from emerging yourself in my adventures, experiences and thoughts along the way? That’s really up to you, and I guess that’s the whole point. I wanted to create a place for other people like me to turn to when they felt uninspired, confused and a little lost in this giant world we call home. My goal was to help others find their purpose, to live a more fulfilling life and to never give up on their dreams. This blog is for anyone who has ever heard that echoing call to go out and find yourself and explore what it means to be alive.
I am hoping that my writing inspires you to get out into the world and explore what it has to offer. If you do, then I can rest easy knowing that I am not only finding my purpose, but helping you find yours as well. Everyone’s purpose is different, but I’ve finally decided to go out and find mine. Make sure you go out and find your purpose too.
